Mushkin Callisto 120GB Solid State Drive – Revisited

 

 

A number of months ago, we tested Mushkin’s Callisto 120GB performance Solid State Drive. This MLC drive showed great potential, but with it’s Sandforce SF1200 controller this brings both gifts and curses.

 

While the performance was more than acceptable, we found minor inconsistencies in read performance. Unsure about what was going on, we had a brief chat with Mushkin and not too long ago we were provided with a brand new firmware for the drive. This is supposed to combat a number of the problems we observed… but will it?

 

Technically, the Callisto drives sport the same specifications as previously but perhaps we can expect improved performance with a new set of control code.
