The Rocket XTRM-Q continues Sabrent’s trend of supplying their storage drives in a tin box to not only protect it during shipping to your door, but also for the portability side of the XTRM-Q it’ll help keep it in mint condition in the bottom of your bag. If you’re just using the drive to move stuff around your home then can be used for anything you use a tin for. Whoo free tin.

Inside we find the now familiar blue of the Sabrent range, with the drive on the right hand side and the two cables in a cardboard sleeve on the left, along with instructions on how to make sure it’s running at its fastest. Do note that if you enable write-caching you’ll need to ensure you eject it properly so that the cache gets written to the drive, rather than just unplug it like we all actually do with our USB drives.

There are two cable types, the Type-C to Type-A, and Type-C to Type-C which doubles up as the Thunderbolt 3 cable if you’re fortunate enough to have a motherboard capable of supporting that.

The drive itself is very small at just 7.5 x 5.2 inches, and .7 inches high. If you can fit a modern smart phone in your pocket you’ll definitely be able to fit this.

On the underside are two feet to stop it moving about too much, although it’s so light that any twist or bend in the cable is more likely to lift it off the desk than the feet keep it on.
