So there we have it. It shows that the latest AMD Radeon card, even in humble RX 9070 Prime form, works beautifully. We know how wildly successful the AMD Ryzen X3D processors have proven to be, and the 9800X3D doesn’t change our views. They fly off the shelves in numbers that would make Solomon blush.
One thing we really love about today’s build is how affordable it all is. The non-ROG parts of the ASUS range always provide great value. We used their Prime hardware for years as our baseline, and the TUF motherboards appear in more systems than we care to count. The ASUS Prime LC 240 ARGB AIO does an excellent job keeping the AMD Ryzen 7 9800X3D cool. The compact size works perfectly in a case like our ASUS ProArt 401, and with interchangeable tops and motherboard ARGB control it’s really easy to customise to your taste. We’ve always loved the TUF range from ASUS for it’s fantastic value for money. The AMD B850 TUF Plus WiFi is no exception.
Prime Numbers
Special mention naturally has to go the ASUS Radeon RX 9070 Prime. The Prime range has always been excellent in the price performance metric. Additionally we know from our recent reviews that the new AMD RDNA4 cards are very capable. FSR remains one of the best ways of extracting performance without impacting image quality. As you saw from our results even FSR 2.1 is plenty good, but FSR4, viewable in our Horizon Forbidden West graphs, is stunning.
Lastly we need to shout out Biwin. As a company who have spent years building stuff for other people, they’ve got a fantastic performance set at very attractive pricing. Who needs middle men to bump the price? Just get the manufacturer to do it. With both the Gen5 and Gen4 NVMe drives you’re getting massive speed at manageable entry pricing. The DW100 DDR5 kit is a blinder, sporting gobs of speed and lush lighting.
