Cyberpower Infinity X55 Pro System Review

Cyberpower Infinity X55 Pro System review

Getting a gaming system for under a thousand pounds has usually meant a serious amount of compromise in your potential image quality settings and resolution. It wasn’t that long ago that 2 grand was necessary to play the latest titles. However, with the massive price drops in SSDs, Intel’s amazing range of i5 processors, the movement away from PC specific titles to ones which will run on the APUs in modern consoles and, finally, the competitive pricing and performance of mid-range graphics cards, the market has rapidly met the demands of the fiscally conscious consumer.

Today’s system up for review is from Cyberpower and is their Infinity X55 Pro system. Designed as VR ready it should fit the needs of those of you who aren’t happy unless you’re wearing goggles. If you’re in the market for a new rig but need it to come under four figures, then this could be the very thing. Of course we wont know that until we’ve put it through our testing, so let’s get down to specifications.

Technical Specifications

We’re big fans of the sensibly priced hardware here at OC3D. Sure if you’re planning to ape Pixar’s efforts then you’ll need a seriously beefy computer, but most of use game with ours, and that means you can stick to a Core i5 processor, rather than going for the Hyperthreading available on the Core i7s. Marry that up to an MSI Z170A motherboard, 8GB of Corsair’s Vengeance LPX memory and feed it via a Corsair Neutron FX into a XFX Radeon R9 390, and you have all the makings of a very capable gaming system.

You don’t have to compromise your CPU performance either, as in this specification the Core i5-6600K has been overclocked to 4.5GHz. More than enough for even the latest titles.

As you’ll see on the next page, if there is one thing that’s a curiosity about the Infinity X55 Pro it is the case. The Corsair Carbide 600C is Inverted. i.e PSU at the top. But we’ll see that in a moment.
