PCSpecialist Fusion Nova Review

Up Close

As with all PCSpecialist systems you receive the manuals and drivers as well as any spare cables or screws left over from the build. With the Fusion Nova it’s pared down sufficiently that we only got the manuals and a power cable because there isn’t anything spare.

All PCSpecialist systems include the foam insert to ensure it arrives in the same condition it left the builders table, and having reviewed 28 systems including this one we can assure you that we’ve never had a single issue or cause for complaint, whether it’s as simple as this or a full SLI and custom watercooled system.

When you’re paying a thousand pounds for a system you’re not expecting it to be stuffed with high end tech, and the PCS Fusion Nova is pared down without leaving you short of performance. Intake fan, three exhausts and the cooler/GPU are pretty much all there is to see, although it’s nice to spot the PSU cover that helps keep everything neat and tidy. Not that a PCS system ever arrives in anything but a carefully cable-tied bunch of loveliness.

The top half has the PCS FrostFlow 100 V3 air cooler, which is much more capable than you might imagine an air-cooler to be, comfortably able to keep the Ryzen 5 5600G cool even under the harshest loading. The three ARGB exhaust fans aid this too.

At the bottom half you can see the WiFi card for all your wireless networking needs as well as the star of the show, the Radeon RX 6600. Our review sample included the PowerColor take, but naturally which one you receive is a matter of in stock supplies.

The front of the PCS P209 case is smooth and sleek with just a single strip of ARGB lighting down the right hand side to stop us hearing the 2001 Space Odyssey music every time we looked at it.

Around the back is where you can get a glimpse of the compromises that have been made to get the system under the £1000 mark, with the Gigabyte B550 Gaming X V2 having the bare minimum of connectivity. We can’t remember the last time we saw a motherboard with a DVI-D display output on it, but here we are. To be fair 6 USB ports are enough, although we would’ve loved to see a Type-C included.

It isn’t only the back that’s missing the Type-C port, there isn’t one on the front either. You do, however, have USB ports and front panel audio alongside the LED toggle and power and reset buttons.

Lastly the included ARGB fans are extremely bright and colourful, bathing your system in a colour of your choice.
