Introduction

Last time we reviewed a system from Cyberpower it was their AMD focused behemoth, the Ultra R77 FX. Today we’re stepping back from a system built with all the bells and whistles and looking at a more affordable model in their range, the MSI Infinity Pro.

When dealing with systems at a certain price point there is always a balancing act between spending money on performance, spending some on futureproofing, and spending money on looks. We’ve often said that tight budgets necessitate more money spent on performance than anything else. You don’t look at your rig when you’re smiting your enemies after all. However, this does mean that you end up with a range of PCs that all look very similar.

If you want a case for x price, you end up with a mid-tower, no-frills model. Similarly there aren’t many CPU coolers more affordable than a plain black 120mm tower or AIO. Perfect if you’re happy to go utilitarian. The PC builder equivalent of brutalist architecture. It doesn’t, however, give you much to show off. Getting a new PC you want to be able to flash it to the world. Those all black, no lighting ones aren’t great for Instagram. Maybe there is another way?

The Cyberpower MSI Infinity Pro eschews the regular ‘good value’ build ideology by going for a single brand – MSI – and using some of the budget on aesthetics rather than performance. That isn’t to say that the performance isn’t good, it assuredly is, merely that this is also the kind of rig you’d be happy to show off. As the picture above might indicate. Let’s take a look.
