MSI AMD 600-series motherboards are now ready next-gen AM5 CPUs

MSI updates their AMD 600-series AM5 motherboards with their AGESA ComboPI 1.1.7.0 for next-gen Ryzen CPUs

MSI has announced that they are updating their AMD 600-series AM5 motherboards to support the company’s “Next-gen” CPUs. These motherboard updates will include AMD’s new AGESA ComboPI 1.1.7.0 Patch A version. MSI plans to make these updates available on all of their X670E, X670, B650, and A620 motherboards soon.

While MSI has not stated which AMD “next-gen” CPUs their motherboards will support, it is likely that the company is referring to AMD’s upcoming Zen 5 processors. Rumour has it that these CPUs will release in the form of AMD’s Ryzen 9000 series, delivering more raw CPU performance to users.

MSI is here to announce the latest AGESA ComboPI 1.1.7.0 Patch A BIOS update for AM5 next gen CPU support on X670E, X670, B650, A620 motherboards. As of now, we can only guess at the performance levels of AMD’s next-generation AM5 processors. Some leakers have stated that Zen 5’s performance gains to be as high as 40%. That said, it is unclear if these claims are in any way legitimate. Other rumours have suggested that AMD’s Zen 5 CPUs will feature the same core/thread counts as their predecessors. If this is true, AMD’s performance gains with Zen 5 will come primarily from single-threaded performance improvement. This is great news for gamers and regular PC users, as a lot of software is single-thread limited.
