Modders boost Kingdom Come Deliverance 2 framerates with Async Compute

Gamers report major performance gains with Kingdom Come Deliverance 2’s Async Compute mod

Over on Nexus Mods, a user called “ChemBoy1” has created a performance-boosting mod for Kingdom Come Deliverance 2. This mod increases framerates by enabling support for “Async Compute” within the game. This feature allows more of the game’s rendering tasks to be completed simultaneously.

Users of this new mod have reported significant performance increases. One user with an RTX 4080 SUPER claimed that his framerates increased from 138 to 152 FPS, a 10% increase. Another RTX 4080 SUPER user also reported a 10% increase.

Most shockingly, an RTX 3090 user claimed that their framerates increased from 65 FPS to 90 FPS at Ultra settings while using Reshade. That’s a performance boost of well over 30%. Note that this is an extreme case, as most users are reporting performance boosts of 8-15%.

Enable Async Compute for rendering on high-end hardware without conflicting with other mods or requiring command line arguments! Bigger FPS boost on faster hardware.

Async Compute basically lets the render pipeline run tasks asynchronously rather than synchronously, which can help the GPU finish rendering frames in a shorter time, thus improving your framerate.

On my RTX 3080Ti, I go from 87 FPS to 90 FPS (+3.5%) without any noticeable change in image quality. Nice! You will see greater impact if you set Global Illumination to High, Ultra, or Experimental.

Let me know in the comments how it works for you!

Caveats:
Your mileage may vary. On older, slower hardware, your performance may regress.
Set Global Illumination to Ultra or Experimental for best results.

ChemBoy1 on Nexus Mods

Kingdom Come Deliverance 2 is already considered to be a well-optimised PC release. The game runs well across a wide range of hardware configurations. Regardless, this mod seems to have made the game run notably faster for most users. One has to wonder if Warhorse Studios will see this mod and implement it into Kingdom Come 2 directly, assuming that they find that it has no negative impacts on the game.
