ASUS Cerberus V2 Headset Review

Our review sample is in blue, but there are ASUS red and a kinda lime green options available too, should you prefer something other than blue.

Within the packaging you get a detachable microphone – perfect for wearing them out and about without looking like you’re wearing a headset – as well as a split cable to support sound cards and the like. By default you get the four pole single jack that fits into a PS4 pad as well as your smart device of choice.

  

The original Cerberus had plastic hinges and headband, whereas the V2 has gone for an aluminium one to enhance the robustness whilst also looking a lot snazzier. Whichever colour of the three you choose it’s clear that the designers have gone for a bold splash of colour. Sometimes the only adjustable colour is something small and barely noticeable, but with the Cerberus V2 the frame, headband and ear pieces are all resplendent in the fetching electric blue.

  
  
  

At this end of the price spectrum you expect the plastics to be of a lesser quality than those more expensive headsets, and we think that the move to a metal headband will definitely improve the longevity of the Cerberus V2. With a sprung headband they are easily adjustable too and that light weight should mean that they are comfortable in long sessions.

If you don’t want to run with the detachable microphone the in-line remote also has a microphone built in, as well as coming with a braided cable, which we were surprised to find at this pricing.
