ASUS ROG Pelta Wireless Headset Review

There is a glorious simplicity in the ROG packaging. Firstly, it’s obvious who made this. The bold red logo, metallic product name, all the ASUS hallmarks. Add to that a clear product image and feature list and it’s everything you need, nothing you don’t.
Within the sturdy packaging you find the ROG Pelta headset itself, quick start guide, USB recharge cable, detachable microphone and 2.4GHz receiver. Note the wireless receiver is USB Type-C.
At around 350g the Pelta is relatively light. Certainly on the lighter end of the scale. Combine that with the deep ear pads and you can be assured of its comfortable nature. Particularly good for those of you who dislike pressure on the top of your head or ears.
The thick headband behind the ski goggle strap promises plenty of comfort.
We really can’t emphasise enough how plush the ear pads are. Deep foam, but the coating is equally luxurious. They also breathe well, should you suffer from hot-ears.
From the top to the bottom we start with the microphone mute button. This also, with a long press, toggles the RGB should you desperately need to squeeze a few more hours out of the battery life. Below that an endless scroll volume wheel. Next up is the media control with the usual play pause and track skip options you’re all used to. The slider toggles between Bluetooth, Power Off, and 2.4 GHz wireless connectivity. The change is smooth and swift.
Headband adjustment is available should you have a slightly smaller head.
It’s not often that microphones are worthy of particular praise. With the Pelta we like how it’s detachable, as well as how well built it is. You can put it anywhere and it basically stays there, whilst the foam eliminates any plosives you might get from a misplaced mic.
