ASUS ROG RYUO IV SLC 360 ARGB CPU Cooler Review
Conclusion & Video
The ASUS ROG Ryuo IV SLC is a solid CPU cooler, but it’s not perfect
ASUS has been a long-time presence in the CPU liquid cooling market. Now, we have four generations of Ryuo series coolers, and their new model is certainly the best-looking to date. With its large AMOLED screen and its robust surround, this cooling solution oozes the premium quality that the ROG brand is known for. That said, premium components demand premium prices. That means that the Ryuo IV SLC will not be winning any value for money awards.
What we have here is a CPU cooler that delivers high-end performance and strong aesthetics. Our gripes with this cooler are minor. We are somewhat baffled that this cooler cannot be controlled using ASUS’ Armoury Crate software. While ASUS’ InfoHub software is good, we expected ASUS’ Armoury Crate App to support all of ASUS’ products.
Minor quibbles
Another quibble is that this cooler is on the loud side when operating at its highest speeds. With 2750 RPM fans, this CPU cooler can push a lot of air. That said, users do not need to run this cooler at its maximum speeds. It can be very quiet if you optimise your fan RPMs. The same is true for most modern CPU liquid coolers.
Two types of people will be discussing this product: those who think it’s gorgeous and want one inside their PC, and those who see ROG and this cooler’s pricing and will cry, “It’s too expensive” and “ROG Tax” at anyone who will listen. Pricing-wise, yes, this cooler is expensive. That’s what you get when a premium brand designs a premium product. You don’t get fancy AMOLED screens on your CPU cooler without spending more on it.
Pricing aside, the Ryuo IV is a solid product that looks fantastic. The movable nature of this cooler’s screen is a nice touch, and the lessened visibility of its coolant hoses is a nice touch. For that reason, the ASUS ROG Ryuo IV is getting an OC3D Exceptional Aesthetics award.
