be quiet Light Base 900 FX PC Case Review

One case, three forms. Meet the be quiet Light Base 900

Meet the be quiet Light Base 900 series of PC cases

Today, we are taking a look at Be Quiet’s new Light Base 900 PC case, specifically its Light Base 900 FX Black PC case. In a sense, this PC case is a three-in-one chassis that can be used in various configurations. In seconds, users can switch between its standard, inverted, and horizontal layouts, allowing users to adjust this case to suit their aesthetic preferences. However, this switchover process will likely take longer for a fully-built PC.

One of the highlights of this PC case design is its loop of LED lights, which gives this chassis an almost Tron-like aesthetic. These lighting strips are ARGB, which means that users can control them to create a variety of unique effects.

Below, we can see this case’s three main layouts. These options give users a variety of ways to change the look of their PCs. All users need to do is detach and move this case’s feet. Personally, I like the horizontal look of this case, as it feels like a modern take on the horizontal case designs that most PCs used to champion. That said, I wouldn’t want to complete the modern-retro look by placing a monitor on top of this case…

While the panoramic glass look of this case is now commonplace within today’s PC market, be quiet has given this case a unique aesthetic with its RGB lighting strips. Furthermore, be quiet has set its Light Base 900 series apart with its three layout options. Not many PC case manufacturers ship cases with inverted layout options. Even fewer case makers add horizontal options.

The be quiet Light Base 900 FX ships with three reverse-blade fans

The FX version of be quiet’s Light Base 900 ships with three pre-installed 140mm fans. All of these fans are RGB-illuminated, and three of them feature “reverse-blade” designs. At the front of the case, three reverse-blade fans are mounted as air intakes, pushing cool air into the case. Using reverse blade fans in this chassis helps to give the Light Base 900 FX a clean aesthetic.

Those who order the Light Base 900 DX will receive a case without any pre-installed fans.

Specifications and Pricing

The Light Base 900 series can support PC motherboards up to E-ATX and XL-ATX in size and support up to a 420mm liquid cooling radiator at the top and bottom of the case. PSUs up to 225mm long are supported, as are GPUs up to 495mm long. This case supports the largest PC components available, making this case ideal for a flashy workstation or an ultra-powerful gaming PC. Note that this case ships with a 3-year manufacturer’s warranty.

Below is the UK pricing for Be Quiet’s Light Base series of PC cases. Note that the LX and FX versions of these cases include fans, while the DX models lack pre-installed fans.
