Up Close:  Interior

Before we look at the interior of the case, it’s worth noting that the 500 doesn’t just have plain metal side panels. the panels are in fact covered in sound deadening material, just like the good old days!!! 

  

 

The interior of the case is well set out and very uncluttered.  There’s a good sized CPU cut out, with a twin 2.5″ SSD bracket behind, but don’t worry, this is easily removed.  Although there are plenty of cable management holes, none of them are rubber grommeted, which is fair enough in a case with no window.  It’d be interesting to see if the windowed version of the case has management grommets.  We suspect it wont.

  

 

Peering into the front we see that there are quite a few fan and rad mounting slots, with a single 140mm fan included.  We think this is perhaps a bit measly for a £70 case, but we’ll let you decide what you think.

  

 

The base of the case features a ventilated PSU shroud, with what at first view appears to be a blanking plate over the front section.  It is in fact the roof of the HDD rack, which can be removed allowing longer and thicker rads to be placed in the front of the case.

  

 

As seen from outside, the rear of the case has seven ventilated PCI covers, and a 140mm fan.

  

 

With the mesh cover in place on the exterior, we can still see the fan and rad mounting slots, and start to get a better idea of the offsets.
