We fell in love with the MSI Maestro 900 PZ at CES 2025
MSEye-Candy – Meet the Maestro 900 PZ
MSI has done it again. We loved last year’s Maestro 700L PZ (review here, build here), and this year, MSI has taken that design and elevated it to new heights. At CES 2025, MSI showcased their new Maestro 900 PZ case, and we have fallen in love with it.
Last year’s Maestro 700L case was big and beautiful. With the Maestro 900, MSI has made it bigger and has made the case’s iconic side panel window cover three sides of the case. MSI was crazy to build a case like this, and we love them for it.
The insanity of this PC case extends to the hardware within. We have an MSI MEG X870E GODLIKE motherboard, an AMD Ryzen 7 9800X3D CPU, two GeForce RTX 4080 graphics cards, and a SPATIUM M580 PCIe 5.0 SSD. Why two GPUs? Why not? Maybe MSI was using it for AI, or maybe they thought this case would look good with two GPUs. I’m not sure what the logic is here, but I think it is safe to say that this case itself is illogical.
Like most modern case designs, the Maestro 900 PZ is Project Zero (PZ) compatible. In other words, it is compatible with back-connect/rear-connect motherboards. This would allow users of this case to build incredibly clean-looking systems. It’s huge number of fan mounts also ensures that there is plenty of airflow for any conceivable hardware configuration.
The MSI Maestro 900 PZ is a behemoth
The MSI Maestro 900 PZ is a crazy case, but that is why we love it. Too many PC cases take a “by the numbers” approach to design, which has resulted in many standardised and boring cases over the years. With its Maestro series, MSI has been bold. With this enlarged 900-series model, MSI has gone downright crazy (in a good way).
For a long time, cases from brands like ASUS, Gigabyte, and MSI have been exclusively for “fanboys.” These users want all of their hardware to come from matching brands. That was the reason why you bought these cases. More often than not, these cases were not worth considering unless you wanted an entirely MSI, Gigabyte, or ASUS-themed PC. MSI has broken this mould by creating something that PC builders would want to build a PC around.
Instead of buying this case because it has an MSI logo, the Maestro 900 is a case where you buy other MSI parts because you love this case. It is rare for a motherboard/GPU brand’s case to make us think like this, and that is what makes the MSI Maestro series special. For that reason, we think the MSI Maestro 900 PZ deserves one of our “Best of CES 2025” awards.
