AMD Ryzen 7 2700X with Corsair H60 Overclocking & Undervolting

Regular Overclocking Methodology

If you go down the standard overclocking idea of just adding more volts and hoping that your cooling can cope, it is possible to squeeze 4.2 GHz from the Ryzen 7 2700X. Nobody wants to stuff 1.4v through their CPU 24/7 though, so instead let’s set the system up to run all the cores at a static speed, rather than boosting up and down all the time. That way we can attain a more stable platform and it lets us go lower on the volts than we could if we let the BIOS fiddle with the clock speed as necessary, whilst doing so at a more manageable voltage.

Straight away the shift from boosting to stable clock speeds allows us to drop from the factory stock setting of just a hair over 1.4 volts on the VCore down to 1.3v. It’s a good start, but here at OC3D we’re not interested in good starts or doing the bare minimum. It also seems unfair on the Ryzen 7 2700X to not give it a fair crack of the whip and a chance to show what it can really do.
