Some of the PCI Express 4.0 lanes are built into the X570 chipset, but plenty of them are onboard the processor itself and this is clearly evident when you look at the performance of our M.2 drive on both platforms. If you only plan on utilising a single M.2 drive and single GPU combination there might not be a lot of need to go with the newest chipset if you’ve already got a good X370 setup, you just need to make sure your M.2 port is wired to the CPU and not the chipset. You can easily check this by looking at your boards PCIE wiring block diagram.
