AMD Athlon 860K Black Edition CPU Review

AMD Athlon 860K Review

x264 Benchmark

In the x264 Benchmark we see that the Stock 860K and 760K perform almost identically, with the more expensive 7850K pulling slightly ahead of the two Athlons. Moving to 2400MHz memory speeds on the Athlon CPUs and even the 7850K do not show any noticeable performance benefits in this benchmark, but when we apply our 4.5GHz overclock to the 860K we do see the higher speed memory give a noticeable performance improvement.

 wPrime

In wPrime we really see the stock A10-7850K and the Athlon 860K give very similar scores at both memory speeds. The 760K trails behind the 7850K and 860K, clearly showing the improvements AMD has made in their Steamroller cores.

Higher speed memory on the 860K shows limited improvement in performance, not as much as overclocking the CPU core but any performance improvement is nice to see.
