AMD Athlon 860K Black Edition CPU Review

AMD Athlon 860K Review

PCMARK 8

PCMARK is the first test we have which tests the 860K + R7 250 Combo against the similarly priced 7850K, with the CPU + Dedicated GPU combo thrashing the APU with an almost 300 point lead in the standard score and an over 500 point lead when OpenCL accelerated.

Compared to the last generation 760K the scores here are nigh identical in the standard tests and standard but show an almost 100 point lead in the OpenCL tests.

 3DMARK

Now we move to our first gaming benchmark. Sadly the 860K with 1866MHz memory reported time errors in 3DMARK for the Sky Diver and Fire Strike tests,  producing unusable results, so these results are omitted from the graphs. We also do not have Sky Diver scores for the 7850K as the benchmark wasn’t released when we tested that APU earlier this year.

With the tests we conducted again the 860K R7 250 combo destroys the scores of the 7850K APU, overclocking the CPU extends this lead further and with the R7 250 having its own dedicated onboard memory the 860K combo also doesn’t suffer as much when using lower speed memory.
