Strix X870E-E Review

Introduction

When there are so many motherboards available we know many people stick with what they know. Given the insane figures that the Strix sub-brand of ASUS’ Republic of Gamers arm has had, for a lot of people ‘what they know’ is a Strix motherboard.

So what do you do if you’re in the market for one of these new X870 chipsets from AMD, want a platform you might be used to and will accept no compromises? Perhaps the ASUS ROG Strix X870E-E will be the very motherboard for you. Firstly, it is based upon the full-fat flagship AMD chipset, the X870E. This is a lot like the X870 but has extra PCI Express 5.0 lanes available for more Gen5 M.2 slots. Bigger, better, faster, more. Add in DDR5 that supports a monstrous 8400 MHz and it’s clear the Strix X870E-E isn’t mucking about.

As you can gather from the specification shots below, the newest addition to the famous ROG Strix range of products is targeted at those of you who want to be as futureproofed as possible. There are a dazzling array of USB ports, storage options and enough power to sate even the most power AMD Ryzen processors. Obviously there is going to be a price to pay for all this power at your fingertips, but if money is no issue for you, why wouldn’t you want the best the ASUS brand has to offer?
