ASUS ROG Strix Z890-A Review

Introduction

Continuing today’s lengthy look at the new Intel Core Ultra CPUs and Z890 chipset motherboards, it’s time for a white model. Settle down at the back. Not only is this a white design, but it’s part of the huge-selling Strix range. In fact this ASUS ROG Strix Z890-A Gaming WiFi will be very familiar if you read our review of the X870 equipped model we covered at the end of last month.

Naturally we are getting through a lot of motherboards today. You’ve probably already seen a lot of them, so we won’t go over old ground. Instead, we shall concentrate primarily upon the Strix Z890-A and what it brings to the party. If you’re curious about its position in the ASUS Republic of Gamers lineup, it sits just below the Maximus models. You might have noticed our review of the Extreme and Hero variants of that appearing today too. Don’t worry Apex fans, that’s coming later.

With all the hallmarks we have come to expect from the Strix range, but wrapped up in a package that places the emphasis on affordability and gamer-focused elements, the Strix A is perfect if you just want to get down to business. After all, we know that the ASUS ROG line is chiefly famous for high-end bits, and the Strix is always aimed at high end gamers. Given that this has the suffix ‘Gaming WiFi’, we’re expecting big things at a reasonable price.

But enough about what we’re expecting. Let’s see what we actually have.
