Up Close

Just in case anyone thinks we just randomly take photos, you can see how the Strix Z690-A D4 perfectly echoes the B550 motherboard box in the back. How we haven’t won a Pulitzer yet continually baffles us.

An overview of the Strix-A, and we like both the two tone nature of the bright heatsinks against the black PCB. As you can see from the image at the top of every page of this review ASUS have also abandoned the awful glitchy logo they experimented with.

The monochromatic nature of the Z690 Strix-A is helped by the very bright silver of the metal parts. Sometimes metals are either dark grey or even coated black, but by using almost mercury silver coloured metal it harmonises well with the white plastics.

ASUS often keep their cards close to their chest, whether it’s the VRM temperatures being hidden or, as it is in this case, the details of the power phases not being made public. It’s 16+1 and that’s the entirety of the information we’ve been given. Their website product page is even less helpful. We’ll soon know how easily it handles the Core i9-12900K.
