ASUS Z270-A Prime Review

It is a nice surprise having got used to the Strix and ROG packaging to see the Prime in a nice, clear, box. The board is on display – something many manufacturers could learn from – and the many features that form part of the Z270 chipset are writ large. It’s worth noting that ASUS are going all in on their AURA technology too, with it moving from the high-end ROG boards down to even the Z270-A. Accessories are a little thin on the ground. It comes with everything you’d need, but if you’re the type of person who loves umpteen packages of obscure cables and adaptors you might be a little disappointed.

The Z270-A Prime is all about the motherboard though, and what a lovely one it is. If you’re aware of the Z170 Deluxe then it might even seem familiar, looking as it does like its predecessor. We really like the white heatsink cover that is contrasted strongly by the square black power phase. The use of silver heatsinks further emphasises the modern trend of having a monochrome motherboard and using RGB lighting to show your personality. Those bright silver heatsinks are further echoed in the ASUS safeSlot covers, protecting and strengthening your PCIe slots to ensure even the heaviest graphics cards wont place stress upon the PCB.
