Whilst the Core i5 overclocked really well, the Core i9 demonstrated how clearly Intel had solved the problem of automatic clock speed boosting, with barely any performance to be gained from spending time tinkering. The Intel Core i7-13700K continues this trend. Despite our best efforts there wasn’t much extra performance to be squeezed, and instead we had to just spread the 5.4 GHz boost clock across all the cores, albeit at the expense of peak single core performance. Therefore we’re only expecting our overclock to be better than stock in a handful of heavy tests.
