MSI MAG B860 Tomahawk Review
Introduction and Technical Specifications
Introduction
Should you partake in our content on a regular basis you’ll know that recently we’ve adored the MSI Tomahawk range. Not all have been rampaging successes without qualifiers, but if you just want enough to be getting on with, more than you might expect for the money, and none of that gaudy lighting, you’ll be pleased with a Tomahawk.
We’re starting out with that as it’s easy to get caught up in a world of more famous brand names and let this slip under your radar. If money is no object then it isn’t an issue, but if your built has an upper ceiling, you might be needlessly spending money on something when the MSI MAG B860 Tomahawk can give you all you require.
Whilst we don’t know prices yet, that value proposition is particularly piquant today. Because today brings the more affordable version of the Intel Z890 chipset to market in the form of the B860. Yes we know. B850 yesterday for AMD. B860 today for Intel. Either marketing departments have no imagination or one person is working for both sides. You think you’re confused, imagine being our fingers. Oof.
Anyway, what it all means is that there is a new, more affordable Intel chipset on the market for their Core Ultra range. Additionally the Tomahawk is at the affordable end of their product line-up. So a B860 Tomahawk should be the value to end all value. Let’s find out.
Technical Specifications
There might only be 60A power stages built into the Tomahawk B860, but we know from past experience that the MSI heatsink design is easily capable of running cool, no matter how much your CPU demands. Helpful, then, that the Intel Core Ultra processors are more energy efficient than previous gens.
