MSI MAG X570S Torpedo Max Preview
Features
MSI have always gone big with the robust nature of the components on their PCBs, and indeed on the robust nature of the PCB itself, and the Torpedo Max is no exception. Thick PCB with extra copper keeps temperatures down and reduces interference, whilst the PWM and Core Boost help you achieve new heights from your processor.
The MAG X570S Torpedo Max uses the latest version of the MSI Audio Boost technology, combining the ALC4080 processor with a host of quality-of-life features to ensure you get the smoothest, epic sounding audio from an onboard solution.
The cornerstone of the popularity of the X570 chipset was the use of PCI Express 4.0, giving us blistering storage performance. If there is one thing we know about drives it’s that they can never be fast enough or big enough.
Whilst MSI are tight-lipped regarding the Amp rating of their power phase, as part of the MPG rather than MEG range we’d expect them around the 60A mark. More than enough for all but the most demanding user.
This image does somewhat give the game away regarding the old school feel of the MSI Torpedo Max, but yes, along with colour on the heatsinks and plastics you can choose an aesthetic that fits your preference, or not, thanks to the supplied sticker kit.
Lastly there are a few utilities available with the Torpedo Max to control network bandwidth and fan speeds. This isn’t the first fan control we’ve seen, although the heavy use of AI Engine branding is something we’re excited to test. Maybe it will prove as successful as the MSI Genie was all those years ago.
