N9 X870E Overview
More and more manufacturers are ditching the colour schemes that make them so recognisable. Thankfully NZXT are sticking to the ‘white with purple accents’ theme and they’re all the better for it.
It’s just so pretty. The way the VRM heatsink is so smooth. How the main Gen 5 M.2 heatsink blends into it at one end, whilst having airflow at the other. Perfect if your GPU has the common airflow cutout. All of that is topped off by about the coolest lower half of a motherboard we’ve seen. Just look at it. Breathtaking.
Beneath these beautifully designed VRM heatsinks beats a beast of a power system. The N9 X870E boasts 20+2+1 110A Smart Power Stage. More than enough to ensure stability with plenty of room overhead should you want to overclock.
It doesn’t seem five minutes ago we were having to put up with tiny screws and standoffs to install our M.2s. Thankfully engineers have solved that problem in a host of different ways. The NZXT one is as good as any other. Certainly it beats digging out your jewellers screwdriver set.
If you want to ensure that your M.2 drives remain as cool as possible then there is little better than a thick thermal pad and a metal cover. The N9 has both.
There is a distinct possibility that this is the prettiest top M.2 slot heatsink we’ve seen. No prettier ones spring to mind. Suggestions in the comments.
As well as a glimpse of the toolless installation system, you can see that the Gen 5 M.2 has a girthy thermal pad on it for maximum cooling. Vital when you’re running at 14 GB/s.
