AMD Radeon RX 7900 XT and RX 7900 XTX Review
Up Close – RX 7900 XT
Both cards look incredibly similar, but there are a tiny number of differences. We know that those people interested in just the XT, or XTX, don’t want to see the other – analytics are funny things – so we’ve split them across these two pages.
Whilst it’s a triple fan design, those of you who were stunned by the size of the Nvidia 4000 series will be delighted at how compact the AMD cards are. they are significantly small in all dimensions, only being 2.5 slots instead of three, but it’s the length, or shortness, that is the real surprise.
AMD were the first to introduce the airflow cutout that is now common on every card, so it’s odd to see the RX 7900 XT dispenses with this. Particularly when it has proven to be so effective.
With a 2.5 slot cooler the RX 7900 XT has a lot of fins squeezed beneath the slender fan shroud. Lots of room to push the hot air away from the GPU.
Around the back we have two of the industry first DisplayPort 2.1s, an HDMI 2.1a alongside a USB C with DisplayPort 2.1 compatibility.
