Hitman PC Performance Review

Hitman is a game that has been talked about for many different reasons over the past number of weeks, whether it is about the game’s change to an episodic release structure or due to its use of Microsoft’s new DirectX 12 API on PC.

Right now the game has been released with its first “episode” of content, including the 3 mission prologue, the Paris Episode and full access to the games Contracts mode and Escalation Mode. The games Intro Pack coast £10.99, with the full experience costing £39.99.

This new iteration of the franchise the game moves back to it’s traditional roots, with each of the missions being less story driven than in Hitman: Absolution, but simply places Agent 47 in an area and gives him a target to kill. This gives the game a lot of variety, giving the player total freedom in how to complete you mission, also giving you the ability to replay levels and kill your targets in whatever way the environment lets you.

Today we will be looking at how well this game performs on the PC platform. Let’s hope it performs better than it did in the Beta.

Drivers

For this game we will be using the newest drivers that were available when the game released, which is Nvidia’s Game Ready Geforce 364.51 driver and AMD’s 16.3 driver, both of which became available to the public in this week.

Test Setup

We will be testing this game on our dedicated GPU test rig using the current flagship GPUs from both AMD and Nvidia. Both GPUs will be the reference design and will be ran at stock settings.

To represent AMD and Nvidia’s Mid range GPU offerings we have decided to use the AMD R9 380 and the Nvidia GTX 960. Both of these GPUs will be the ASUS Strix models

Both of these GPUs offer very similar performance in most scenarios and come in at very similar pricepoints, so it will be very interesting to see which GPU will come out on top.
