MSI MAG 322URX QD OLED Review

Conclusion

We’ve had a few MSI OLED panels come through the offices in recent months. As well as the obvious jaw-dropping visuals, the tremendous efforts they’ve put into eliminating burn-in has also brought its own benefits. Before we’d have thought OLEDs didn’t stand a chance on PCs. The Windows taskbar are notoriously stubborn at appearing as often as possible after all. However, we’ve been able to see first hand how well their panels work at dimming certain areas. Which allows us to forget being so cautious with them and treat OLED panels like any other display.

The MSI MAG 322URX QD-OLED is their newest panel. The specification list alone should grab your attention. Not long ago a 4K panel pretty much stopped at 60Hz. You might get 75Hz if you really spent the cash. Even very recently 144Hz options were about as quick as they got. The 322URX is 4K @ 240Hz! That’s insane. It means not only can you get the full benefit of high image quality titles like Horizon Forbidden West or Cyberpunk 2077 with the rich hues and deep blacks of the 4K OLED side of things, but you also get the high FPS responsiveness of the 240Hz side in less demanding things like LOL or Fortnite. A win on both sides of the equation.

One of the difficulties that reviewing monitors presents is getting across how much of a difference the image quality of a panel makes. You wouldn’t believe how good the 322URX looks. We don’t care what monitor you’re bringing to the party, unless it’s an OLED, this thing smokes it. Admittedly if you’re dealing with mission-critical colour accuracy then you’ll still require the £5K+ professional panels, but for the rest of us the quality of the QD-OLED panel on the MSI MAG we have here is staggering. Blacks are deep, but shadows maintain detail. Whites are “squint at your screen” bright, without blowing out highlight details. Colours… colours are how the world looks on a glorious spring morning with all the flowers in bloom.

Boasting plenty of technologies to control any potential burn in issues, as well as a 3 Year warranty – including burn-in coverage – the MSI MAG 322URX QD-OLED is a magnificent panel and wins our OC3D Performance Award.
