The MSI SUPRIM X come with a dual-BIOS switch that offers both Silent and Gaming modes. Out of the box it is set to silent mode, so it’s worth noting if you’re one of those people who want maximum performance and damn the noise cost. Not that we’re expecting the card to be noisy, but performance always comes at a cost. Equally though the RTX 3090 is hardly a slouch even before the GPU boost kicks in, so maybe quiet is the way forwards.
Rather than have a simple screen printed logo the MSI Dragon on the backplate is fully RGB to help you show of your taste and sophistication. Or at least show off your choice of colours.
The TORX 4.0 fans were a great success when we tested the MSI Tri Frozr RTX card and we have no reason to believe they’ll be anything other than excellent on this SUPRIM X version. High air pressure and low noise is always a glorious combination. You can also see the carefully sculpted heatsink fins that direct air without causing the noise that is so injurious to our gaming pleasure.
Having looked closer at it all, when you step back again you really appreciate how much attention to detail has gone into the SUPRIM X card. Everything is thick, sturdy and feels as premium as you would hope it does after seeing the receipt. The black bracket in the middle that helps brace everything, the careful cutouts for capacitors and things, it’s a work of art.
Yes, that’s three 8pin PCIe power inputs on both the RTX 3080 and RTX 3090 versions of the SUPRIM X. Power draw shouldn’t be an limiting factor.
Mind your fingers guys, gals and non-binary pals. Apart from being slightly scary this picture does show off how thick the backplate is. None of your wobbly tin-foil sheet here. Chunky, just like the rest of the card.
Having gone through the cards in a seperate look it’s always nice to see them paired together. If anything it shows off how similar their build is. You couldn’t tell one from the other, which would be perfect for those of you who can only afford the RTX 3080 card but still want to flex on Instagram.
