ASUS ROG Falchion Wireless Mechanical Keyboard Review

Within the box we have a pair of ROG stickers, an extender for the wireless dongle – for very deeply mounted USB ports in certain chassis types – as well as a long Type-C to Type-A cable.

  

Portability is great but we want to protect our investment and to this end ASUS provide the Falchion with a polycarbonate cover that clips neatly into place and keeps all of your keys safe inside your bag. It also looks very nice with alternating directions on the brush effect, in keeping with some of their motherboards we’ve seen.

  

Beneath the cover is the Falchion Wireless itself in all its 306mm/12 inch length. This is definitely a keyboard for the short of space, or perhaps those of you who like to write your screenplay in the local Starbucks.

  

On the underside we have two stubby feet for ergonomic adjustment as well as the ROG logo and model identifier. As a very light keyboard it’s helpful to have the large rubber pads on each corner.

  

Although it’s not the easiest thing to photograph due to the limitations of the lens I have available, you can hopefully see that the alternative key functions are clearly labelled on the front side of the key caps. Handy to save you having to have the manual on constant standby.

  

Around the back we have the Type-C port for charging and cabled running should you so wish. There is also an easy to find power switch and a very tight USB holder for the wireless dongle. Certainly you wont have to fear it falling out in transport.

  

Here is the USP of the Falchion. A dual battery indicator and touch panel. By default it adjusts your volume, but can be assigned in the Armoury Crate software to a number of tasks for which a linear slide could be the solution. Think of it like the Touchbar on modern Macbooks, but mounted on the side.
