ASUS Strix Scope TKL Deluxe Review

Introduction

Sometimes if you wait long enough then the idea you had which seemed a little unusual at the time ends up being exactly what is required. TKL keyboards definitely fall into this category.

When they first arrived a fair amount of games still utilised the numpad for gameplay which left us all scratching our heads as to exactly why you’d buy a keyboard without those extra keys bolted on. However, in the same way that USB revolutionised how we would connect things to our PCs, so the XBOX 360 finally organised PC gaming controls into a single, industry wide standard. However much we might bemoan the console roots of a lot of games removing those elements that PC games do so well – compare Skyrim to Morrowind – there is no denying that the blurring of the lines between consoles and computers has brought about significant QoL improvements for all of us.

Now WASD or controllers are the only way that games are meant to be played and the number pad has become – spreadsheet users and those who rely upon special ASCII characters aside – superfluous. This time last year we reviewed the full size Strix Scope keyboard, and now it’s time to look at the TKL Deluxe version. With full RGB, CherryMX switches and a gorgeous wrist rest it has much to offer. Time to see it in the flesh.
