The iCUE and Stream Deck software packages are where the meat of the XT updates are to be found. If you’ve spent any time using the iCUE software a lot of this will be familiar but we’ll go over it nonetheless. The lighting is handled by layers, allowing you to create anything your imagination can consider. As well as plenty of presets there are a whole host of triggers you can play with, and even the light bar is customisable with its 19 different LEDs.

  

The macro editor is equally powerful, whether you want a simple key combination or a timing and profile based trigger system. Like the lighting the only limits are your imagination and time.

  

Like the lighting there are a bunch of preset actions built in giving you full control over everything from the simple to the mind-boggling.

  

As with any newly launched product the firmware updates should be checked regularly, although we have to say that even in its pre-release form we didn’t spot any flaws or things that didn’t work as they ought. Typical Corsair reliability.

  

The main change is the addition of cross compatibility with the Elgato Stream Deck. With the latest software installed for both applications you can choose G-Keys – the six keys on the left of the K95 – as Stream Deck keys and customise them with all the features you find within the main Stream Deck application.

  

As the keyboard doesn’t have a display like the Stream Deck does it might be easy to forget what is what so there is a fly-out box that shows the logos for each action. For the purposes of this screenshot I’ve moved it over the action box in the iCUE software but you can place it anywhere you like on your desktop, on any monitor, or even just hide it if you’d prefer. The Stream Deck logo at the bottom of the tower takes you straight to the software too.
