NZXT Lift Elite Wireless Mouse Review

Conclusion

There is a concept called unity of purpose. That a product designed to do a single thing well is better than one trying to hit multiple goals. It’s why a machete bests a Swiss Army Knife in the jungle. In PC peripheral terms there are so many you’ve always a choice. The choice the NZXT Lift Elite is offering you is one of simplicity.

If you fall into the camp who wants 17 buttons, three lighting zones and height adjustable palm rests, this obviously isn’t the mouse for you. That’s fine. Not everything is designed to be for everyone. However, if you look at mice and wish you just had one that is a great mouse. One that allows you to kill with the minimum of fuss. One that doesn’t light up your face like you’re an extra in Enter the Void. A mouse that is pure, designed to react near-instantaneously to your inputs. Best of all, one that doesn’t live or die by its software configuration. If all those are boxes you tick, the Lift Elite is perfect. That’s all we have to say really.

Anything More?

It’s so singular in its focus there is little else to note. The PixArt sensor is a beast. 26000DPI is enough for even the most demanding user. There is a reason that the once ubiquitous Avago sensors have been wholly replaced by PixArt. We’re struggling to recalled the last non-PixArt sensor mouse we tested. That fine sensor quality is backed up by the huge polling rate. When run wirelessly you can get 4000Hz, and wired brings 8000Hz to the party. If you stick with the industry standard 1000Hz then, because of the lack of lighting, you can squeeze up to 70 hours of battery life from the Lift Elite. We got 64 hours in our testing, but that included a bit of time running at 4kHz.

The NZXT Zone Elite is a fabulous low friction mouse mat, and the square form factor is perfect if you haven’t the space for a full sized desk cover. It’s as slippery as gaming pads come. Blending that with the incredible responsiveness of the NZXT Lift Elite Wireless and you get a combination that is an extension of your being. It is so capable that any future losses are purely a skill issue, and that wins it our OC3D Gamers Choice award.
