Given how shiny the contents are the packaging is simplistic in the extreme. It’s almost like G.Skill made a deliberate attempt to not let anything catch your eye before the mighty reveal of the sticks inside.

  

A hint as to the shininess of the Royal Series comes with the inclusion of a microfibre cloth. Perfect for ensuring minimum fingerprints, especially once you see how polished the finish on the Royal sticks is.

  

And here are the sticks in all their shiny glory. Without anything much to reflect they look a bit like a Piano black kit, but as is always the case photographs don’t remotely do justice to them. As you’ll see in a moment though, we’ve done our best to show off that mirror finish.

If you can tear your eyes away from the heatspreader then you’ll spot the crackle effect on the RGB section. It’s almost a clear take upon a geode. It’s very impressive.

  
  

We’re not sure how much we like the font used. We understand why it’s almost a cursive script rather than the more robust block fonts found on modern hardware, after all script is more .. Royal, but it’s a bit of a culture shock.

  

As we said it might be easy to wonder why the sticks are advertised as silver when they look more like piano black, but the moment there is something to reflect, a penny in this case, the high quality mirror finish makes itself known in no uncertain terms. No wonder G.Skill provide a polishing cloth.
