Corsair SF1000L ATX 3.0 PSU Review

A closer look at the SF1000L

For the most part, Corsair’s SF1000L looks like any other power supply, aside from the fact that it is smaller. Here’s what the SF1000L looks like beside an ATX-sized HX1000i. The SF1000L is smaller in all dimensions.

The beauty of the SFX-L form factor is that it can be used to create powerful PSUs while still retaining a smaller than ATX size. This makes Corsair’s SF1000L ideal for use within custom ITX PCs, especially those that use powerful-hungry GPUs like Nvidia’s RTX 4090.

Corsair’s new SF1000L uses Corsair’s new Type-5 cables, which use smaller micro-fit PSU connectors than Corsair’s older PSUs. If you want to use the SF1000L with custom cables, make sure that these cables are made for Corsair’s new Type-5 PSUs. Type-4 cables will not fit into these terminals.

Speaking of Corsair’s SF1000L’s cables, there is a reason why we mentioned custom cables before. The SF1000L’s standard cables are plain, and while flat black cables are easily managed and hidden, some PC enthusiasts will undoubtedly want something fancier within their system. Don’t get us wrong, these are solid PSU cables, but the aren’t that pleasing to the eye.

Out of the box, Corsair’s SF1000L comes with a lot of cable options out of the box. This includes new cable standards like 12VHPWR, and legacy connectors like Molex. We will note that this PSU’s molex cable is in the short side, though this should not be an issue for many users, as this is a PSU that’s designed for compact ITX systems, and not many components use molex power these days.
