Anthem RTX/DLSS PC Performance Review

Performance – DLSS On VS Off

In Anthem, DLSS is only supported at 1440p on the RTX 2060, RTX 2070 and RTX 2080, with the RTX 2080 Ti only offering support for DLSS at 4K. This leaves us with only one graphics card that can run Anthem at 1440p with DLSS both on and off. 

Below we can see that with the RTX 2060 that DLSS provides us with a 26.8% boost in 1% minimum framerate and an 18.8% boost in average framerate. DLSS offers better performance, that is clear, but in some scenes, this difference can be as small as 2-3 FPS. 

DLSS makes the biggest difference in Anthem’s most demanding areas, locations which are ill-suited to repeatable benchmark runs, though this the impact of DLSS is felt the most.

When Anthem is cranked up to 4K, we can see that DLSS has a much larger performance impact, packing a 47% boost in minimum framerate for our RTX 2060 and a whopping 43% boost in our average framerates. This difference is felt in gameplay, though it is far from the solid 60FPS. With the RTX 2060, we do get close to a stable 30 FPS, which would be good for those who wish to settle for stable-console like framerates. 

Moving up to the RTX 2080 Ti, we achieve a boost of 42% in our 1% minimum framerates and a 37.3% boost in our average framerates. This is well worth the small loss in detail that we experience when DLSS is enabled, as it almost gets us up to a steady 60 FPS at 4K. A few most settings changes and Anthem could run at 4K 60 FPS on an RTX 2080 Ti.
