Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced PC Performance Review

4K Performance/Benchmarks

4K Performance

Like all modern Assassin’s Creed games on PC, the game’s “Ultra High” preset targets ultra-high-end PC hardware. These settings are for gamers with performance to spare, and the game looks great at high or even medium settings. Even at Very Low settings, the game looks decent. Gone are the days when games at low settings delivered Etch A Sketch-level image quality. For this reason, our main benchmarks will test Assassin’s Creed at High settings (with RT set to standard) and Ultra High (with RT set to Extreme).

Modern games are always challenging at 4K, but with high settings, gamers can easily achieve 60+ FPS with the right hardware and an appropriate level of upscaling. With a few more settings tweaks, GPUs like the RTX 4070 and AMD RX 6800 XT can deliver a solid 4K gaming experience. Even the RX 9060 XT and RTX 3070 Ti can do the same with performance mode upscaling and medium settings.

At maxed-out settings, PC gamers really need a beefy GPU to run Assassin’s Creed Black Flag at 60+ FPS. For DLSS performance mode, this requires Nvidia’s RTX 5080. While AMD’s RX 9070 XT can achieve 60+ FPS with FSR in quality mode, we need more upscaling to make a stable 60+ FPS experience more achievable. If you want to max out this game at 4K without upscaling, you’ll probably need to wait for a next-genration GPU.
