Call of Duty: Modern Warfare RTX/Raytracing PC Analysis

4K Benchmarks – RTX On VS Off

At 4K, even Nvidia’s mighty RTX 2080 Ti barely manages to keep Call of Duty: Modern Warfare running at 60 FPS with DXR raytracing disabled. When enabled, the game’s performance cab dip close to the mid-40s. To keep DXR enabled at such a high resolution, compromises need to be made. Gamers can either compromise on resolution and use Call of Duty’s integrated resolution scaler, or lower other graphical settings to keep DXR enabled.

Moving down to the RTX 2060, we can see that Nvidia’s entry-level RTX card is nowhere close to handling Call of Duty: Modern Warfare at 4K with raytraced shadows enabled. A average framerate of 30FPS in our benchmark scene is as far from playable as you can get in a Call od Duty game. Complex scenes turn the game into a slideshow when DXR is enabled. Even without DXR, the RTX 2060 struggles to get close to a 60FPS average in Modern Warfare at 4K.
