Cyberpunk 2077 FSR 4 Update Tested!

Conclusion – A huge upgrade for AMD users

FSR 4 is a HUGE WIN for AMD RDNA 4 GPU users

Honestly, it’s hard not to see FSR 4 as a major win for AMD. It solves all of the image quality problems of AMD’s older upscalers, bringing it in line with the AI upscalers of other brands. In fact, FSR 4 is much better than Nvidia’s earlier versions of DLSS. The world of AI upscaling has clearly evolved since this technology was first developed.

Compared to FSR 3, FSR 4 deliver sharper, more detailed images that look better in both static scenes and in motion. There is less ghosting, less aliasing, and less garbling. FSR 4 is significantly better than FSR 3, to the point where AMD could have called it FSR 5 and still got away with it.

What was even more startling was that FSR 4 often looked better than Cyberpunk 2077’s native TAA when FSR 4 was in performance mode. With FSR 4, Cyberpunk looks similar or better when upscaling is enabled. Add on the performance benefits of upscaling, and FSR 4 is a clear win for AMD RDNA 4 users.

With FSR 3, AMD’s upscaling technology had a performance/image quality trade-off. In Cyberpunk 2077, that trade-off doesn’t exist anymore. Gamers can avoid the game’s native TAA and use FSR 4 and achieve similar (or better) image quality while having access to higher framerates.
