Preset Scaling
For our GPU preset scaling tests we decided to use AMD’s Radeon RX 6800 at 4K. Why? Because this graphics card is clearly GPU-limited at 4K and therefore has an opportunity to show us how each graphical preset impacts Dead Island 2 in performance terms. you saw the impact these presets had on CPU performance on the last page, and once again our testing comes from the start of Dead Island 2’s “Clickbait” side mission.Â
Below we can see that while moving from Ultra to High has a small performance impact, moving further down from High to Medium can make a huge difference to Dead Island 2’s performance profile, and that moving from Medium to Low can have an equally huge impact on game performance. The good news is that Dead Island 2 looks great at low, medium, high and ultra settings, allowing this game to scale well to users of lower-end hardware. This game’s low preset does not present gamers with potato quality visuals, it just scales back some features to get the game running nicely on lower-end PCs (and last-generation consoles).Â
