Ghost Recon: Wildlands Closed PC Performance Review

Ghost Recon Wildlands is the first title on PC to use Nvidia’s TurfFX technology, which used GPU acceleration to accurately simulate grass, and how it deforms when objects collide with it. This technique is detailed in the video below. 

 

 

When testing this effect on our GTX 1060 and RX 480, we can see that both have a performance impact of around 2FPS when TurfFX is turned on, which is a relatively small drop in FPS and certainly something that would be difficult to notice.  

PC players will have to consider how much they want the additional performance that TurfFX takes to simulate, it may be the little change that will give you a stable framerate, though, on the other hand, you might also enjoy the additional detail when driving over grassy terrain.
