Total War: Three Kingdoms PC Performance Review

What about Low-end hardware?

Recent entries in the Total War series pride themselves on being scalable, enabling players to enjoy the title on systems that range from beastly Ultra-high-end gaming PCs to mid-range notebooks. This means that older graphics cards like AMD’s R9 380 and Nvidia’s GTX 960 are perfectly usable when playing Total War: Three Kingdoms.

In Battle Mode, both of these graphics cards fail to hit out 30 FPS minimum FPS target when using Three Kingdoms’ high preset, but at medium, both graphics cards maintain solid 40 FPS framerates at 1080p. Not bad for these ageing mid-range graphics cards.

In Three Kingdoms’ campaign mode we see a similar trend to battle mode, with the only major difference being how Nvidia’s GTX 960 storms past the Radeon R9 380. Again, we see that Total War: Three Kingdoms has a clear preference for Nvidia graphics cards.
