Acer Predator GM9000 Gen5 Review

Acer Predator GM9000 Gen5

Conclusion

We love the simplicity of a good NVME review. Whilst other products can be complicated, aimed at various needs and use cases, that’s not the way drives are.

Instead all we really want from a drive is for it to be, in declining order of importance; fast, capacious, affordable. The Predator GM9000 ticks all three boxes.

Fast is pretty clear from our testing. Anything that ends up in the top half of our graphs can count itself as quick. When you appear as high up as the Predator GM9000 does, it’s a guarantee. This thing is faster than a caffeinated greyhound. We particularly like how it’s fast across the board. It’s not requiring any caveats about only being quick in sequential block sizes, or under light workloads. No matter what we threw its way it handled it with aplomb and sky high numbers.

Capacious is very much depending upon which model you choose, and how bad your data habit is. Take advantage of the ongoing Steam sale and 4TB can quickly disappear. Thankfully our final demand is also met by the Predator, being affordable in all three variants. Particularly during the current Prime sale. See below.

With peak transfer rates over 14GB/s, and high speeds whether you’re reading or writing, big blocks or small, the Predator GM9000 wins our OC3D Performance Award.
