Up Close – Seagate FireCuda 520 and Viper VP4100

Nobody would accuse M.2 drives of being the most exciting thing in the world to look at, so we’ll give them a quick once over and we’re going in ascending order of heatsink size.

Seagate FireCuda 520 1TB

Besides a giant stick that apes the orange colouring on the packaging, the Seagate FireCuda 520 is very much the stock M.2 drive here. Perfect if you’re putting it beneath a motherboard heatspreader, or have your own heatsink already on hand.

Viper VP4100 2TB

The Viper VP4100 2TB is the same as the Seagate on the back, albeit with the blue PCB instead of a black one, whilst the front side has a small heatsink to hopefully help keep the transfer rates peaking.
