TRYX Waterblock – Phanteks X2 – MSI X870E Project Zero – Custom Build
Component Selection – TRYX Waterblock, Phanteks Evolv Series X2, and more
It’s time for a custom PC build!
When we reviewed Phanteks’ Evolv Series X2, we said that we would do a complete system build with it. That time has now come! We didn’t receive this case as a review sample; we purchased it with our own money. Why? We wanted to build a system with it, and reviewing it first made sense for us. After all, we need data for comparison with other cases on the market.
For this build, we have customised our Phanteks Evolv Series X2. We took the silver parts of the case and wrapped them in red vinyl. We wanted this case in white and red, and we made that happen. While it took ages to disassemble this case, it could be done by hand with a screwdriver. No need for drilling out rivets. Just some patience and a screwdriver were needed. For that effort, we were rewarded with a custom white/red Phanteks Evolv Series X2, and it looks lovely.

PC builds need hardware, and TYRX were there with their new Panorama WB (Waterblock) and ROTA SL series fans. We’ve been interested in looking at this water block since we saw it at Computex. Now, we have a chance to test it. For this system, we used two triple packs of ROTA SL series 120mm fans, with standard fans at the top and reverse-blade fans at the base of the case.
For the rest of our liquid cooling loop, we used Alphacool’s Core 120mm Reservoir and a selection of Corsair liquid cooling components. This included various fittings and a HYDRO X XR5 360mm liquid cooling radiator.

Hardware Specifications
For the rest of the system, we decided to use MSI’s new MAG X870E TOMAHAWK MAX WIFI PZ motherboard. This motherboard will be available soon, and we plan to publish a review shortly. We’ve paired this motherboard with AMD’s Ryzen 9 9950X CPU and a set of Corsair Dominator Platinum DDR5-6000 memory.
To finish things off, we have Zotac’s RTX 5080 SOLID OC White Edition GPU. We’ve recently reviewed this GPU, and as its name suggests, it is a SOLID performer. Overall, this is a strong setup for our work here. Be it video editing, image editing or anything else.

Overall, this hardware looks great together. Our white Dominator Platinum memory blends in nicely with Zotac’s RTX 5080 Solid OC White GPU, with both featuring matching gold accents. MSI’s Project Zero motherboards are also a good pairing with Phanteks’ Evolv Series X2 case. This made cable management an easy process, especially with Corsair’s RM1000x SHIFT PSU.
