Cloudflare outage causes chaos across the internet
Cloudflare outage causes major outages across the internet
Cloudflare is a vital service for the modern internet. When it works, it’s practically invisible; when it doesn’t work, chaos ensues. Today, it’s chaos. Cloudflare has experienced an outage that has seemingly taken down half the internet. Popular tools like ChatGPT and websites like X/Twitter were made inaccessible due to Cloudflare’s outage.
Cloudflare’s issues started at around 11:20 AM (GMT), making large portions of the internet inaccessible. For several hours, websites and services that use Cloudflare became inaccessible due to unreliable connections, causing chaos for Cloudflare customers and internet users.
Thankfully, a fix has now been deployed, as of 2:57 PM (GMT). As of now, Cloudflare’s engineers consider the incident “resolved”.
Monitoring – A fix has been implemented and we believe the incident is now resolved. We are continuing to monitor for errors to ensure all services are back to normal.
Nov 18, 2025 – 14:42 UTCUpdate – Some customers may be still experiencing issues logging into or using the Cloudflare dashboard. We are working on a fix to resolve this, and continuing to monitor for any further issues.

This incident once again highlights the problems associated with the modern internet’s reliance on a few large companies. Last month, outages with Amazon Web Services and Microsoft Azure took down large portions of the internet. Today, it was Cloudflare’s turn to make any internet services unusable.
Fortunately, today’s outage was brief. Regardless, it has become clear that the world’s reliance on a small number of internet service companies is becoming a significant problem. When will the next outage be? Next week? Next month? Only time will tell.
