Corsair H115i PRO RGB and H150i PRO RGB Review

 

Conclusion

“The King is Dead, Long live the King”  Gentlemen, we have a new Torture test Performance champion in the shape of the Corsair H150i PRO RGB.  If we’re Honest we’re quite taken aback by its performance, It led the way during all of the Sky Lake testing, and simply dominated the Kaby Lake testing, with temps that are almost inconceivable.  The 140mm based H115i didn’t to too badly either, seeing itself way up the charts in the Sky Lake testing, and not far behind the NZXT X62 and Cryorig A80 in both the 4.8GHz and extremely demanding 5.0GHz Kaby Lake tests.

Stepping away from the performance for a few moments, It’s also good to know that both these coolers are well made, and well but together, with no evidence of bent finds or scratches in the lovely Matte/Silk finish of the rad.  The Aesthetics although boxy and purposefully engineered, with even the fans saying “I’m here to do a job, not look pretty”, that said we do like the Grey Black mix, although, with the Cold Plate benefiting from the user being able to manipulate it’s colour by means of four RGB LEDs, we did think it an odd choice for Corsair not to enable this feature within bundled fans, as is the case with the ML240L from CoolerMaster we looked at recently.

A review of these two AIOs wouldn’t be complete without at least an overview of the LINK system, which is the proprietary software download by means of which the user interfaces with the AIOs.  We’re not going to go into it in depth, as we have covered a version of it in a previous review, but suffice to say LINK enables you to control just about any element of the hard ware from a simple interface, whilst at the same time feeding back to the user via a dashboard all the information he might need to see with regards to speeds and temps etc.  So magnificent is this piece of software that we’re convinced if it ever becomes sentient, we’re all doomed.

So is there anything not to like?  Well to be honest, there isn’t.  We’ve yet to get firm pricing, but we’ve no reason to believe either of these two AIOs are going to be drastically more expensive than the competition, and even if they are, we think their performance justifies the difference.  A few months ago, maybe we would be saying that there are only a handfull of cases out there that will accept a 360mm rad or for that matter a 280mm rad, but to be honest, that’s just not the case anymore.

In simple terms what we have here are hands down, two of the best coolers on the market today.
