Up Close: Interior Rear

As with most cases these days, it’s round the back where the action’s at.  First impressions are of a case with ample storage and good cable management, but we’ll dig into the detail in the next few moments.

One of the features that immediately attracted our attention is the PWM fan controller hub.  This hub has outputs for 6x3pin fans as well as 2x4pin PWM connections, A 4 pin Pump/CPU fan and a CPU-Fan Header  it’s powdered by a provided sata coupling direct to the 12v rail on the PSU.

The PSU chamber is simply mahoooosive, with there being little relevance to “max PSU length” down here.

With regards to cable management, the majority of the case benefits form 23mm of space, again, these are our measurements, as at present there’s nothing form from Fractal.

The anterior portion of the case has deeper cable management, coming in at around the 30mm mark.  Now, while this might seem brilliant, it’s worth noting that if you’re planning on using the 3.25″ drive cages, then there’s going to be little room left for cables.  Take a look at the top image and you’ll see what we mean.

Along with the pair of 2.5″ drive locations under the CPU cut out, we also find a set of three cages, each of which will accept ether a 3.25″ or 2.5″ drive.  Back in the day I remember extensive modding was required to my project NZXSPC case to allow for a 3.25″ drive to be mounted rear of mother board, but now we see it’s a common occurrence.  Guess I must have been a bit of a trend setter, (Fractal, I shall expect your royalties cheque at the earliest convenience))

In a world where everything is greatly over engineered, it’s great to see that the drive cages are released by a single thumbscrew.  well done Fractal, well done indeed.
