Up Close

Having used up most of my thickness related jokes while looking at the TD02, there’s only a Slim chance that i’ll be making any more.  (See what I did there….Oh forget it).  Meanwhile gaze upon the glory that is the 120mm fan based TD03 Slim.

Where would we be without the planet saving egg box card?  Actually, although the TD03 Slim might look well pack, SilverStone have actually used the same insert for it as the full size TD03, which means that the slimmer model does shift about a bit in the box when you shake it.  Yes, we shake the boxes to see how well packed things are, if we hear rattling, clunking or shifting, then things are not packed well.

We really can’t get over just how thin this 22mm rad actually is, and more so keep thinking about the possibilities for small form factor cases or tiny scratch builds where space is at an absolute premium.

So, the Slim series may be slightly more budget orientated than the full on “E” range, but the quality is no less inherent, and those 90 degree rotating tube unions will make fitting so much easier.

The top of the pump assembly is adorned with the now familiar SilverStone snowflake emblem, which lights up blue when the pump is powered.  To be honest, you’ll either think the light level too feeble, or will think that the low level of it is nice and subtle.

So how thick is the TD03 slim?  Well let’s put it into perspective shall we, at just 37mm thick, the whole assembly is only 12mm thicker than a standard case fan.

Suspend your disbelief for a moment and ignore the tubing and squint your eyes and you’d be forgiven for thinking that all we’ve got in the back of the CoolerMaster heatsink test case is a simple 120mm fan.  If you haven’t got the idea that we’re really quite taken by the Slim Tundras then you’re never going to make detective.
